Beirut before the war
Grace's early years in Beirut, before the upheaval of the war where beautiful and surrounded by family and friends.
Beirut under fire
The war transforms the family's daily life and deeply marks its story.
A new life in Cannes
Grace, travelled to Cannes, France, with her family, to escape war-torn Lebanon. Her own mother had always baked her some French pastry inspired desserts. In the South of France, Grace discovered new varieties of sweet delicacies, including the unavoidable Mille-feuille dessert, which she fell in love with.
Returning to Beirut
When heading back to Beirut in 1977, she had many French patisserie inspired recipes in her notebook! This notebook becomes the family's culinary heritage.
A new life in Canada
Now married with two kids, Grace and her family leave war torn Lebanon to start a new chapter in Canada.
Grace's recipes
Being a food conscientious mother, Grace always paid attention to ingredients when doing groceries; she found it difficult to find healthy and natural ones when it came to sweet snacks. Graceâs solution: rekindle with her passion on a more practical basis and bake cookies for school! In this process, she transmitted her love of baking sweets and cookies to her kids!
The creation of La Biscuitery Inc.
In early 2015, the idea of sharing Graceâs cookies started to develop⊠and thatâs how we founded La Biscuitery, with one objective in mind: share with the world the wonderful childhood memories of sharing delicious cookies with the family.
The cookies reach grocery stores
La Biscuitery's cookie bags find their place on online grocery platforms (Lufa Farms) as they do on the shelves of healthy grocery stores (Marchés TAU, Rachelle-Béry grocery stores, and other specialty retailers).
Creating the first collections
La Biscuitery expanded its world with the creation of a family of gourmet products, following the exact same principles and standards established by Grace.
First Airport location
La Biscuitery opened its first retail location at Montreal Airport, a gourmet kiosk selling cookies, pastries, macarons, and other sweet treats baked on-site for the travellers leaving Montreal.
Grace's cookies make their debut
The Grace's range joins the adventure and enters the market. Success was immediate and the kiosk was sold-out daily!
First shopping center kiosk
La Biscuitery continues its growth with the opening of a kiosk located right next to the center court at Carrefour Laval, Quebec's largest shopping center.
Collaboration with Holt Renfrew
The first boxes are created for the Canadian luxury retailer Holt Renfrew, and the products are made available across Canada. A unique breakthrough for the company, La Biscuitery makes its name and status as Canada's premier luxury biscuit maker with a second edition collaboration the following year.
La Biscuitery's First Christmas collection
La Biscuitery reinvents itself with the creation of its first Holidays Nutcracker themed collection. This cookie collection was sold at over 300 Sobeys grocery stores, all The Bay department stores and Indigo librairy stores accross Canada for the Holiday season.
Encore!
La Biscuitery reinvented itself again with the Nutcracker Pastry Chefs collection. A unique and whimsikle take on the previous year's success. It pleased the Montreal's Grand Ballets Canadiens direction and became available after their December shows at Montreal's Place des Arts. Needless to say that all previous year retailers ordered again!
Opening of the Montréal airport flagship store
La Biscuitery opened its first flagship boutique at Montreal Airport (International zone). The offering evolved, and the menu became more elaborate to meet the expectations of travelers and the changing format of La Biscuitery's retail locations. It is no longer just a cookie kiosk, but a full offering of savoury and sweet products, specialty beverages, and gift items.
A new Christmas Collection!
La Biscuitery proposed a brand new Holiday design, offering a unique, elegant and colourful collection of gift items. That year too our one-of-a-kind collection was featured at many retailers across Canada.
Downtown Montréal pop-up
The brand sets up in downtown Montreal inside the Holt Renfrew Ogilvy luxury department store. This popup shop was an extension of our long-standing collaboration.
At Bloomingdale's
The La Biscuitery products are now available at Bloomingdale's in the greater New York City area and online.
Toronto pop-up
La Biscuitery continues its partnership with Holt Renfrew by opening another pop-up shop at the Holt Renfrew Yorkdale in Toronto. The reception was wonderful, and our Grace's cookies were a sensation among cookie lovers.
Downtown Montreal, we are back!
A new kiosk opened in downtown Montreal, inside the iconic Eaton Centre on Sainte-Catherine Street West.
